Post election Update:  November 7, 2012
Dan Lofgren won the election.  Polls taken during early voting showed Jones leading with early voters 2 to 1.  However, a yellow journalism article was published in the SL Tribune that headlined Jones' conviction of 23 years ago without putting it into context.  Apparently, most voters were influenced by the sensationalism of the article.  Early voters were reported to be about 30% of Election Day voters.  Lofgren's campaign delivered a nice post card mailer to voters about 3 days before Election Day.  Thus, Lofgren won the election.
The following concession message was sent by Jones to Lofgren on his website message board this morning:
CONGRATULATIONS.  Thank you for your comment to Melinda Rogers that it was not about me but should be about the issues.  I was pleased to discover along the way that you are a bishop.  The methods used by those who wish to keep you in power are disappointing and I hope that you will join in dispelling the myths that these wide and spaceous building scoffers used to discredit my repentance.  Best Regards,  Dick Jones
